River Heads Fishing Club was established in mid 2009 by four locals that decided it was time for River Heads to have its own Fishing Club. And why wouldn't they? River Heads boasts an amazing expanse of fishing paradise, west coast Fraser Island creeks, The Great Sandy Straits and the Mary & Susan Rivers. All this is easily accessable from River Heads boat ramps.
From humble beginnings, the club has grown in members, active participation, and a dedicated committee that wants to see the club grow.
We hold a monthly competition for members at the River Heads community hall, dubbed a 'Fish Meet'.
The Fish Meets start on the first Friday of every month with members fishing anywhere in the Hervey Bay area and then meeting at the River Heads Community Hall at 2:00pm Sunday.
Members fish are recorded from 3:00pm. The fish are bought in fresh or for those that prefer catch and release, you can bring along a digital photograph of your captures on a brag mat including the months secret item. Or, if you're not really into the competitive side then just come along to enjoy a great afternoon with a few drinks and free BBQ.
